WESTERN PA – May 2010 – The Allegheny County Labor Council recognized James T. Kunz, Business Manager for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 66, as the “2010 Labor Man of the Year.” This recognition took place at the Council’s annual honorees banquet at the Station Square Sheraton on Friday, May 7, 2010.

Kunz began his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator in 1976, and has represented Local 66 since 1995 when he became a Business Representative.  He was elected Business Manager in 2004, the position he currently holds.

“This recognition is an honor and is symbolic of the commitment that the hard working men and women of Local 66 and Allegheny County make every day,” said Kunz.  “Thank you to all of our 7000 members for what they continue to do to further the construction industry in this region and for the quality work they deliver for contractors, private businesses, and municipalities.”

Kunz also serves as chairman of the board for the Board of Trustees of Western PA’s Operating Engineers Joint Apprenticeship & Training Program; Labor Representative on the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee; Trustee for the Northeastern States Conference; Secretary for the PA State Council; Vice-Present of the Allegheny County Labor Council, AFL-CIO; Building Trades Representative on the MAGLEV Board of Directors and Board Member for the Pittsburgh Urban Redevelopment Authority.
